Havana, Cuba: The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, today congratulated the young people who make up the University Student Federation (FEU), on the 99th anniversary of the founding of that organization.
In his official Twitter account, the head of Government pointed out that the members of the FEU, faithful to the legacy of the communist leader Julio Antonio Mella (1903-1929) and to the “history that is recorded in their ranks, are committed to the conquests of the revolution”.
Mella founded the FEU on December 20, 1922, to represent the interests and enforce the rights of Cuban university students.
Any person who is pursuing higher education in Cuba, without distinction of sex, race, religious belief, nationality or social origin, who voluntarily wishes to belong to it and does not have worker status, can join the organization.
It is also made up of student leaders who are active for up to two years after graduation.
On the occasion of the anniversary, there will be a central act on the steps of the University of Havana, where a campaign will be launched for the centenary of the FEU with three fundamental axes: political-ideological, cultural and sports work.
