Día Internacional de la Lengua Materna.

Mayabeque, Cuba: Achieving the proper development of the mother tongue is a priority in the educational sector of the province of Mayabeque.

The mother tongue is of extraordinary importance in the development of the individual’s personality.

From the first months of birth the complex of animation appears. This is the first manifestation of children’s language in emotional communication with adults. This is how it goes through each of the stages of development of the human being until becoming an adult.

The inspection methodologist at the Provincial Directorate of Education, Amada Llanes Castañeda, reports that from the schools of Mayabeque they carry out  teaching and extracurricular activities to commemorate the International Day of the Mother Language.

It is very important from educational institutions to promote the proper development of the mother tongue. To stop this, they carry out circles of interest, scientific societies, skills and knowledge contests, among other initiatives.

In early childhood they develop the mother tongue from the different role plays.

All these actions will prevent new generations from using crude or vulgar language.

It also encourages the new generations to use the language to perfect their teaching, form values and contribute to the integral culture of the personality.

The inspection methodologist at the Provincial Directorate of Education, Amada Llanes Castañeda, adds that the third educational improvement includes the subject as a discipline and names it Language and Literature.

Each educational level has particular characteristics. In early childhood he places it in the sphere of communication. In primary education it is called the Spanish language, in junior high school it is called Spanish literature and in pre-university it is recognized as language and literature.

In this improvement they deal more with literature so that students know how to appreciate literary works and get to know national, international and classic authors.

The program is very broad to achieve a good development of the discipline in each of the teaching levels.

Making proper use of the mother tongue is a universal right. UNESCO works to preserve and protect the language rich in phrases, languages and dialects that are spoken throughout the world.
