Caracas: The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela today guarantees access to justice and due process to the population despite the health crisis that the country and the world are experiencing, its president Maikel Moreno assured, Prensa Latina publishes.

Regarding the balance of the year of this judicial entity, the magistrate explained in a report circulated to the media that during this 2020 the highest instance had a fundamental role in the preservation of the democratic institutionality of the country and gave as an example the appointment and subsequent swearing-in of the board of directors of the National Electoral Council (CNE).

He highlighted that as a representative of the TSJ he participated in the Plenary Assembly of the XX Edition of the Ibero-American Judicial Summit and received a delegation of international observers for the parliamentary elections.

Moreno also highlighted his meetings with various ambassadors, including diplomatic representatives from the State of Qatar, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Cuba and with the outgoing ambassador of the State of Palestine.

The Covid-19 pandemic was not an impediment to continue guaranteeing a judicial service characterized by efficiency, he said, proof of this was the holding of hearings in the different courts of the country and in the Highest Court and the generation of sentences in the different jurisdictional powers.

He stressed that all these processes were carried out under rigorous biosafety standards established to avoid the contagion of magistrates and appearing parties.

While in the academic field he highlighted the realization of several activities, among them the International Congress of Critical Law, the XVII Forum on the Rights of Children and Adolescents, the III International Congress on the Penal System of Adolescent Responsibility and the International Forum on the Day International on the Elimination of Violence against Women.
