Quito: In a message on the occasion of the beginning of the new year, the Confederation of Workers of Ecuador (CTE) advocated today to strengthen spaces to promote the national economic reactivation, Prensa Latina publishes.
The call of the organization, a subsidiary of the World Trade Union Federation, was addressed to all workers and the Ecuadorian people, in general, together with the request to move forward firmly in the consolidation of the objectives set for the well-being of the citizens and the working mass.
‘The year that ends was marked by critical situations for humanity. Never before have we been able to perceive death so close, the product of a lethal virus that has led us to focus our attention on the very survival of the species and we have also witnessed how the capitalist system, hand in hand with governments at its service, they took advantage of this crisis?, the CTE in a bulletin said.
In this regard, he stressed that in the midst of this panorama there was not a minimum of consideration towards workers and harmful laws were approved, which caused massive dismissal and a high level of unemployment.
Likewise, the instance pointed out that the forecasts for Latin America and Ecuador, specifically, are not encouraging at all, since the region is the one with the greatest loss of hours of paid work in the world, before which it urged unity to preserve life, the right to work and the recovery of violated rights.
“In our political and union proposal, the decision adopted by the XXVI Ordinary National Congress, held in December 2020, is to raise the level of actions and presence of the Confederation of Workers of Ecuador?, the entity said.
For this, he said, the priority will be centered on three fundamental axes: Institutional Strengthening, recognition of the Workers’ Movement in the National Electoral Council and continuing to demand the proposal presented to the Ecuadorian people to seek an adequate solution in economic reactivation through a Contingency Plan.
The CTE also assured that it will not neglect the permanent ideological, political and union formation and training of all its organizations and national and grassroots leaders, for which it prepares a National Plan.
Finally, he ratified his support for the World Federation of Trade Unions and the global campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize for the Henry Reeve Cuban medical brigade, as well as a free and safe vaccine for workers, international solidarity with all workers and the self-determination of the peoples in struggle.
