Puerto Rico: The governor of Puerto Rico, Pedro R. Pierluisi, decreed a state of emergency against gender violence in response to the increase in cases of women victims of violent acts, Radio Reloj reports.
The president’s decision responds to the claim of more than four years by feminist organizations that have denounced violence and sexist actions against women.
All violence is reprehensible, and we must fight it relentlessly. Gender violence is a social evil, based on ignorance and attitudes that cannot have space or tolerance in the Puerto Rico that we aspire to.
