Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared this Monday before the Jerusalem District Court to defend himself against accusations against him for fraud, bribery and breach of trust in three corruption cases, Radio Havana Cuba reported.

This is the second time Netanyahu has gone to court since the trial began in May and during the evidence phase he will have to do it three times a week.

For this hearing, the court will require the defendants to declare his guilt or innocence and the date of the next evidentiary phase will be set, before or after the elections on March 23.

While the prime minister remained inside the court, hundreds of people approached the seat of the court to demand the prison for Netanyahu, calling him a minister of crime: “We will not give up until he resigns?, the participants repeated.

Netanyahu, 71, 14 of them in power, is accused of accepting 700,000 shekels (175,000 euros, $ 210,000) worth of cigars, champagne and jewelry in exchange for financial or personal favors.

If found guilty of corruption charges, the Israeli leader could face up to 10 years in prison, and fraud and breach of trust, which are punishable by up to three years in prison.
