Lima: The number of deaths from Covid-19 in a period of 24 hours rose today in Peru to 433, the highest figure recorded in that period and the total balance amounted to 57,230.

The daily report of the Ministry of Health also recorded that, in the same period, at the end of the previous day, 7,131 new infections were confirmed, the total number of cases being a million 704 thousand 757 and those recovered were one million 627 thousand 969.

The Latin American Information Agency (PL) reports that there are also 14,747 coronavirus patients, of which 2,636 are admitted to intensive care units and with mechanical ventilation.

In this serious context, President Francisco Sagasti today received a new shipment of 276 thousand doses of vaccines from the AstraZeneca laboratory, this time sent by the multinational mechanism Covax Facility and reported that one million doses will arrive next May.

In the same month, he indicated, two million 800 thousand doses of the Pfizer brand vaccine will also arrive and confirmed the commitment to immunize all adults over 60 years of age -which is underway- before the end of its administration, in next July.

Among other supplies agreed and in process, he mentioned that “we have very advanced negotiations with the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which we hope will be finalized soon and they would bring us the Sputnik V vaccine.”

He added that there are also discussions with the American laboratories Moderna and Johnson and Johnson for new acquisitions.

He confirmed that at the end of his mandate, he will ensure the supply of vaccines necessary to complete the 48 million doses necessary to immunize all Peruvians over 18 years of age.
