Mayabeque, Cuba: Members of the San José de las Lajas sports movement remain in the front line of combat against Covid-19, thus commemorating International Workers’ Day.

According to the Director of Sports of the Administration in the territory, the Bachelor of Physical Culture Luisa Peña Mesa, the 84 teachers relocated to the six Popular Councils of the capital of Mayabeque, support the health system with their participation in active research.

They also provide their support in the dining rooms of the Family Attention System (SAF), with the delivery of food, basic necessities and medicines to the elderly, vulnerable families and those who are in isolation at home.

Another group continues with its contribution to the Consumer Registry Offices (OFICODA) and the Fines Office, in the latter they collect the penalties imposed on those who violate the protocols established to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Peña Mesa also commented that beautification work is carried out in the reference facilities of the different departments, offices and other areas, as well as other constructive actions such as the rescue of the soccer field of the Nelson Fernández Estévez Sports Combined, with a view to future competitions and the Maintenance of the Athletics School.

Individual sports activity, affirmed the leader, is maintained thanks to the virtual marathons from home, called by different INDER Directorates of the country, a modality born of the need to stay active and healthy to counteract the multiple consequences of inactivity in these times of pandemic.

On the other hand, in the two sports teams of that municipality, the six students of the Faculty of Physical Culture, who carry out their integral work practice there, combine their self-preparation with social work by carrying out methodological activities two days a week.
