United Nations: The representative of Haiti, on behalf of the 14 member states of the Caribbean Community, said that despite the fact that nations reject this policy, almost unanimously, the Cuban people continue to suffer its impacts.

He reaffirmed his firm support for lifting the blockade, a situation that worries the Community, as it constitutes a flagrant violation of the rights contained in the Charter of Nations.

“The blockade constitutes an obstacle to the development of economic relations with Cuba,” he reiterated while demanding the immediate lifting of this unilateral policy. “We consider that the withdrawal of the blockade is a precondition for rapprochement between the countries.”

The diplomat recognized the solidarity of Cuba in times of pandemic, with the deployment of medical brigades in Caribbean countries to support the fight against COVID-19.
