ALBA-TCP will hold a summit of heads of state and government.

Caracas: The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) will celebrate today its XIX Summit of Heads of State and Government, for the strengthening of unity and integration, Prensa Latina publishes.

The executive secretary of the regional bloc, Sacha Llorenti, specified that the high-level meeting will pay tribute to the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo, a decisive military action in Venezuela’s independence struggle.

The meeting of the ALBA-TCP high authorities will take place in a geopolitical scenario characterized by the economic impact and human damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, together with the marked hostility of the United States against several countries in the area.

In recent statements, Llorenti pointed out that the member states of the bloc will ratify the integrationist will in the face of global challenges and threats to the peoples of the area.

“We are working to further strengthen our Alliance and make a qualitative leap towards unity, (…) in a scenario where the United States, allied with regional oligarchies, is generating a boycott of integration efforts?, he said.

On Wednesday night, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Commerce of Antigua and Barbuda, Everly Paul Chet, and the Minister of Agriculture, Lands and Forests of Granada, Peter David, arrived in Venezuela to intervene in the conclave.

During the XVIII Summit, held on December 14, 2020 under the form of videoconference, the ALBA-TCP ratified the commitment to strengthening this regional entity.

This Thursday’s meeting will give continuity to agreements emanating from a series of meetings held in the course of 2021 aimed at strengthening cooperation in strategic sectors such as health, agriculture and food, education, political and communicational articulation.
