Mauricio Macri, former Argentine president.

Buenos Aires: While vacationing in Spain and reinforcing criticism against President Alberto Fernández, former Argentine president Mauricio Macri is today in the eye of the collimator for a serious complaint from the Bolivian government, Prensa Latina publishes.

An international scandal that puts his country in the spotlight for another episode under his management came to light in the last hours and spread like wildfire: complicity, with war material from his government in the coup against Evo Morales, in 2019.

The Macri, who until a few days ago indicated in a letter that he was a politically persecuted person and accused the current Executive of seeking revenge for a cause in which his family business Correo Argentino owed a millionaire debt to the State 20 years ago, returns to the fore for another unfortunate episode.

If for many it was too much to indebt the country to the marrow with the International Monetary Fund, with the addition of multiple chapters such as the denunciations of espionage to a wide range of personalities from the intelligence services, their contribution with war material sent to Bolivia is the drop that overflowed the glass, say specialists.

A letter revealed his government’s partnership with the coup plotters. The complaint arose after a letter from the general commander of the Bolivian Air Force, Jorge Gonzalo Terceros Lara, sent to former Argentine ambassador Normando Álvarez García.

The letter, released by the Bolivian Executive, highlights how the Macrista government provided equipment and material to suppress the social protests that followed one another by the de facto government of Jeanine Añez.

The document details various chemical agent materials such as tear gas spray and gas grenades, in addition to 40,000 AT 12/70 cartridges.

After the complaint at a press conference, the Bolivian Foreign Minister, Rogelio Mayta, told the Argentine channel C5N that many questions remain and out of respect for the deaths that those demonstrations left, it will be necessary to clarify what happened.

“In these situations of serious human rights violations, the truth is declining,” he said.

Mayta recalled that Evo Morales left the government on November 10, 2019. This war material, he added, arrived to consolidate the de facto government of Añez by force.

President Alberto Fernández’s response was immediate. The president, who was the protagonist to get Morales from Bolivia alive, a political refugee in Argentina until the triumph of Luis Arce, apologized to that people and expressed pain and shame.

The head of state stressed that these events are being analyzed by an interdisciplinary group of independent experts from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

?For the peace of mind of my conscience, I keep that I have done everything in my power to preserve the lives of Evo Morales, Álvaro García Linera and many other Bolivian brothers assassinated by the coup plotters. Our democracies are strong. We have to continue working together to consolidate them, “he said in his letter.

On his side, President Luis Arce repudiated Macri’s support for the coup and ratified the ties of brotherhood with the Argentine people.

We recognize the solidarity of Brother President Fernández, as well as his commitment to memory, truth and justice, he said in a message on Twitter.

Stupor generated very sensitive news for Argentines, who for several years were victims of coups d’état that led to bloody dictatorships.

The Nobel Peace Prize Adolfo Pérez Esquivel pointed out that this action deserves condemnation for crimes against humanity and congratulated Fernández for apologizing to Bolivians on behalf of all.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Felipe Solá said: a month before leaving the government, former President Macri sent the Bolivian Armed Forces material necessary for them to repress Morales’ supporters. Evo was forced to resign.

Others who added the voice of repudiation of him was Senator Jorge Taiana, who also apologized to Bolivia on behalf of the Argentines.
