Threats from the United States against Cuba are denounced in Russia.

The deputy of the Russian State Duma (lower house), Elena Panina, denounced the threats and sobering calls from the United States on how the Cuban authorities should behave, Cubasí publishes.

In her comment, published on the riafan.ru site, Panina drew attention to the statements made the day before by the White House, which “strongly” condemned any act of violence or action against “peaceful protesters” in Cuba.

The also director of the Institute for International Political and Economic Strategies of Russia indicated that she is not clear about the relationship between the United States’ pronouncement and the actions of people “who rioted in several Cuban cities, looted shops and overturned cars?, she said.

She pointed out that, however, “Washington does not need any special reason to accuse Havana of anything” and drew attention to the historical claims of the different US administrations to take over the Caribbean nation.

“Since the beginning of the Cuban Revolution, the Americans have repeatedly tried to return the island to their area of ??influence, organizing several conspiracies and trying to carry out coups under the pretext of imposing democratic values?, she stressed.

Panina called the behavior of the US government “especially hypocritical” in the context of its own fight against domestic terrorism.

In this regard, she referred to the 535 Americans accused on July 7 of the assault on the Capitol, which many experts consider a provocation by that country’s own special services.

The Russian deputy said that Cuba is going through difficult times due to the renewed hostility of the White House policy towards the island, aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

?If Washington is really interested in helping it, then it should lift the trade blockade, mainly on the importation of medicines. However, the United States continues to support the blockade of the island?, she said.

Regarding the concern of the United States authorities about the respect for ‘democratic values’ in Cuba, Panina pointed out that’ they could solve some of the problems in one fell swoop by closing the notorious military base of Guantánamo, which the American presidents, including Joe Biden, they have repeatedly promised to do, ‘he concluded.
