Caracas: The Government of Venezuela and the so-called Unitary Platform of the opposition today present common interests that will allow progress in the dialogue table installed in Mexico, deputy Hermann Escarrá said, Prensa Latina publishes.
Regardless of the existing differences, the parties involved in the process must advance in the search for the best solutions for the people, stressed the Venezuelan politician and academic.
“I qualify as positive the beginning of the Dialogue Table in Mexico, in which constancy converted into virtue reproduces the doctrine of our Constitution, the prominence of human rights and political pluralism serve as an extraordinary norm,” the parliamentarian said.
Speaking to Venezolana de Televisión, Escarrá stressed that one of the transversal lines of all the proposals to be debated in the talks is the overcoming of the unilateral coercive measures implemented by the United States against the South American country.
“We must go to short-term solutions due to the urgency of lifting the sanctions,” he said.
On August 13, the government and opposition delegations involved in the dialogue process signed a memorandum of understanding that will govern the negotiations, aimed at finalizing agreements in the area of ??political rights, electoral guarantees and a timetable for observable elections.
Likewise, the talks will address the lifting of the unilateral coercive measures implemented against Venezuela, the restoration of the right to assets, the renunciation of violence and response to its victims, and guarantees of implementation, follow-up and verification of the agreement.
The president of the National Assembly (Parliament), Jorge Rodríguez, plenipotentiary representative of the Venezuelan State in the talks, reported that during the next few days technical meetings will be held between the parties to build partial consensus.
In turn, President Nicolás Maduro ratified the Bolivarian Government’s commitment to travel the route of political understanding with the opposition, in the name of peace and national stability.
“We have persevered along the path of dialogue, and along that path we are going to remain in Mexico now and later,” emphasized the head of state at an international press conference, highlighting the importance of the cycle of conversations that began over the weekend with the mediation of the Kingdom of Norway.
