United Nations: The Security Council of the United Nations Organization (UN) will dedicate today an informative meeting at the ministerial level to discuss the threats to international peace and stability caused by terrorist acts, Prensa Latina publishes.

During this session, the report of the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, on this issue and the efforts of the multilateral organization with the support of the member states to counteract this scourge will be presented.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will chair the meeting and a report is expected from the head of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, Vladimir Voronkov, and a representative of civil society from Afghanistan, among other speakers.

The Indian representation, which chairs the Security Council this month, distributed a draft press release condemning all cases of terrorism and expressing concern about the efforts of the Islamic State (IS) to exploit the Covid-19 pandemic.

On several occasions, the highest representative of the UN has warned of how threats to international security and the danger of more conflicts are increasing right in the middle of the pandemic.

He also impacts efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism, according to a report released by the UN last year.

The report indicates that terrorist groups such as IS is exploiting the pandemic to promote their propaganda and narratives, and to add more people to their violent actions.
