Bolivia will strengthen urban agriculture in the period 2022-2025.

Bolivia: The Government of Bolivia will strengthen urban agriculture during the period 2022-2025, with a budget of over 11.5 million dollars, Prensa Latina reports.

The Plurinational State will execute the national program to promote urban and peri-urban agriculture, thereby increasing food production and consumption, as well as the generation of family income.

The budget will go directly to some 5,500 families in 37 municipalities of this Andean nation, reported the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands.

That portfolio will monitor the implementation of the program, verifying compliance with the objectives, goals, activities and results.

The work will prioritize solutions to consolidate food security in peri-urban areas, where there is inadequate family infrastructure, little technical assistance and information.

Likewise, it will contribute to promoting in Bolivia the production and supply of fresh food throughout the year in orchards and greenhouses, motivating small-scale employment alternatives.
