Havana local development project with new graduation of young people.

Mayabeque, Cuba: The local development project La Moneda Cubana, located in Old Havana, held the sixth graduation of young people from Mayabeque, Artemisa, Havana, Matanzas, Ciego de Ávila, Villa Clara, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo, in knowledge of Cuban cuisine and gastronomy, the Cuban News Agency reports.

The sixth promotion corresponds to the 2019 course that had not finished due to the pandemic.

In the act they delivered the titles to the 570 new graduates in the presence of their families and teachers.

To date, they have trained 1,539 young people for their subsequent employment, especially in the non-state sector.

Mr. Ángel Aguilera Castillo, founder and general coordinator of the project, recalled that since its creation in 2011 the objective is to prepare them as business entrepreneurs and manage decent employment for young people unrelated to study and work.

The initiative conceived by the also People’s Power delegate and owner of La Moneda Cubana restaurant, was a solution to such a problem raised in his constituency Number 6, of the Catedral Popular Council.

Aguilera Castillo highlighted that of the 570 new graduates, more than 70 percent are located in private businesses.

To do this, they visit restaurants and other private and state establishments, to learn about the needs of personnel and their willingness to collaborate with training.

The general coordinator of the project added that 385 young people are now taking the final exams to integrate the upcoming graduation and have enrolled 320 for the new course. In addition, more than 30 private businesses in Havana collaborate with the initiative.
