Bogotá: The number of injured people including five children rose to 11, due to the attack perpetrated last night against the Immediate Attention Command (CAI) station in the Arborizadora Alta neighborhood, south of Bogotá, authorities confirmed today.

“With absolute force and all our capabilities in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office, we will find those responsible for the criminal action committed in Bogotá and we will bring them to justice for the crimes of terrorism and attempted homicide,” the head of the National Police, Jorge Luis Vargas, said.

He stressed that attacking the integrity of children is an act as cowardly as it is infamous, which is why he wished for the recovery of the people injured “in this criminal act?.

The country’s president, Iván Duque, was at the scene where he rejected the attacks and stated that he is coordinating the investigation with the Ministry of Defense and the National Police to find those responsible.

According to information from local media and neighbors, an explosion affected the CAI, where a policeman, five civilians and five minors were injured, and some 60 nearby homes were affected by the force of the blast wave.

The injured were referred to the Meissen Hospital in the same town, the authorities detailed.

Firefighters from the Candelaria station and the Technical Rescue Team secured the area and carried out tasks to minimize possible risks after the alleged attack.

Almost three weeks ago, a similar explosion also occurred near the police station in the Sierra Morena neighborhood of Ciudad Bolívar.

Both events were recorded in the midst of the electoral contest that the country is experiencing in the face of the presidential elections on May 29.
