Ecuador: Updated reports on the magnitude 6.0 earthquake registered in Esmeraldas, a coastal province of Ecuador, revealed that it left 356 victims, Prensa Latina reports.

The report issued by the National Risk and Emergency Management Service indicates that the consequences of the tremor included one person who died of cardiac arrest.

Likewise, the material damages include two houses destroyed and 87 affected, as well as five public buildings, two health centers, six educational premises and a bridge, according to the new evaluation carried out after several aftershocks registered the day before.

According to messages and images on social networks, tourists who were on the beaches of Esmeraldas remained for a long time outside the hotels and several graduation parties were suspended due to the tremors.

The earthquake occurred at 11:28 p.m. local time on Saturday at a depth of 10 kilometers and 11.79 kilometers from the city of Esmeraldas.

The telluric movement was felt in more than 60 cities in 11 of the 24 provinces of this Andean country.

According to official information, the National Risk Management Service and the provincial government are actively monitoring.
