Mayabeque, Cuba: The Defense Council in Jaruco analyzed the impact of Tropical Storm Laura, as it passed through the southern seas of Cuba, in a meeting this Tuesday with the members of the Social Economic Working Group.

According to the president of the Municipal Defense Council, Osmany Mayor Montejo, no loss of human life or material resources was regretted in the municipality, thanks to the preventive actions taken by the Defense Zones.

The winds ranged between 30 and 35 kilometers per hour, only affecting the power lines in the Castilla area, in the Tumba Cuatro Popular Council and in areas of the Plaza Recreativa and 9 avenue of the locality.

The State Directorate of Agriculture reported that crops were not significantly affected, although the productive forms carry out a survey to collect damaged products and decide their distribution.

No significant damage was reported to houses; the roads were not affected and the reservoirs maintained their levels.

Now, in the recovery phase, the call from the Municipal Defense Council is aimed at sanitation of the community, to prevent outbreaks of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and other vectors and not to neglect the measures aimed at confronting COVID-19.
