Mayabeque, Cuba: Nurse Migdalia Rodríguez Conde returned to her town of San Antonio de Río Blanco, in Jaruco, after taking dozens of lives from the coronavirus in the sister country of Honduras.
Emotions of all colors filled her reception in the neighborhood, since the 60th birthday of that great family that are the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) was also celebrated.
She arrived with the pride of being part of the group of 20 collaborators of Public Health, from Cuba and the only one from Mayabeque, who faced COVID-19 in the Central American nation.
The also specialist of Medical Emergencies assisted the patients in the red zone, in the intensive care unit of a hospital in San Pedro Sula, in the north of the country.
In a brief but forceful dialogue, she confessed how their souls were broken in those days when they lost up to twelve patients because they were late, she stressed.
The professional from Jaruco, who accumulates other stories of humanism from two previous missions, this time shared the satisfaction of attending with her colleagues and in just 178 days of work more than 20 thousand people and bringing hope to 13 million homes.
The greatness of the mission was recognized with the “Commander’s Cross” decoration that was awarded to them by the National Congress of Honduras.
“I have arrived and you know that I am still the nurse of the village nurse”, said this brave woman in a white coat, who also received recognition from the municipality’s CDR.
The Head of Mayabeque Medical Collaboration, Lic. Anay Santos Llambía, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the health authorities and the Government, as she pointed out that Migdalia distinguishes the group of 123 collaborators of the Henry Reeve International Contingent of the province who have faced the coronavirus in 29 nations of the planet.
