Mayabeque, Cuba: The headquarters of the Provincial Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) in Bejucal was the scene of the usual History ann Literature Space the Legend of Lenio Jiménez, an exquisite proposal to delve into the history, identity and heritage of the City of Charangas.
Led by the Doctor in Historical Sciences María de los Ángeles Meriño Fuentes, the meeting was dedicated to talking about the life and work of some famous personalities of the Bejucal culture who had their birthdays during this month as the Master of Percussion Alexis Crescencio Hernández and the prestigious lyric soprano Bárbara Llanes.
The audience was also able to enjoy the presentation of the book Africanía en las Charangas de Bejucal, authored by Aisnara Perera Díaz, PhD in Historical Sciences and Researcher.
It deals with the influence of the black councils of different nationalities in the festivities held at the beginning of the 19th century. Published by the Ático publishing house in 2005, it obtained the Catauro Prize a year later, awarded by the Fernando Ortiz Foundation and the Cuban Book Institute.
Felipe Roúco Llompart at the meeting, showed some images from his next book Cuba en la calle. The specimen is made up of 145 photos obtained during 30 long years of his artistic career in his tours of our Island.
Participant was also the actress of the Grupo Teatral Blanca Becerra Omaida Navarro Fernández who obtained last year the diploma for the 40 years of the Bejucal culture.
Those present shared their experiences and were nourished by this space invaded by the Bejucal spirit and captivated by identity.
