Mayabeque, Cuba: The news circulated these days as a highly important news, and it is. The protagonist is Lázaro Rafael Fundora Hernández, who was in charge of giving another connotation to his productions and to his “La Esperanza” Farm, located in the municipality of Madruga.
The country’s Economic and Social Strategy allows individual producers to export their products, as long as they meet the required quality. Lázaro didn’t think twice and became the first Cuban peasant to export to Europe.
After two years of hard struggle, perseverance triumphed. He proposed to send 1.8 tons of Persian lime or lemon to Spain. The assessment of the product quality was good and the reception in the peninsular country led to new demands.
Fundora Hernández never thought that the avocados planted on his farm would end up in the land of those ancient fighters who defined their destiny in the Roman Coliseum.
The 1.5 tons of avocado were also well received. Requests came from Italy to keep shipments.
Now, Lázaro Rafael Fundora, aims to export frutabomba, in high demand in European nations and the exotic Chirimolla that for sure, he said, they will like it a lot and added: “the search will not stop, we will continue looking for products that can be export, in that way I help the country’s economy and buy the tools and supplies necessary to continue developing my farm.”
