Mayabeque, Cuba: Saving lives is a priority for the doctors and nurses in the isolation center located in the Faculty of Medical Sciences of this province, based in Güines.
In this institution they take extreme measures and comply with public health protocols, according to Dr. Ledy Iruela, head of the medical team.
“The objective of isolation is to establish distance and to be able to evaluate the manifestations that a patient has from the moment she or he is suspected with the possibility of having Covid-19, of being a contact or contact of a contact of a patient who was previously diagnosed positive.
There, Cuban public health professionals put all their efforts in caring for patients who are direct or indirect contacts of confirmed cases with Covid-19.
The specialist in comprehensive general medicine, Dr. Leandro Reyes Alfonso, speaks about this topic: “what we do is very important because we look for all the people who are direct contacts or contacts of contacts, we cut the chain of transmission and we think that in a short time we are going to cut the transmission of the disease here in Mayabeque, for this we are working hard in all the isolation centers that exist in the province”.
