Mayabeque, Cuba: The weightlifters Naveys Andrea González and Emeli Ulloa from Mayabeque will compete today in the Pan American Youth Championship, an online tournament where Cuba has already added five medals in two days of competition, among 196 weightlifters from 21 countries.
González, 59 kilograms, competes from 11:00 in the morning, in a division of 13 contenders, while Ulloa, 64, will face 15 rivals starting at 5:00 in the afternoon, according to the program in the website of the International Weightlifting Federation.
Today, in the 81-kilogram men’s category, the island will not have representatives, in a tournament with the highest payrolls by Colombia, with 21 athletes, Peru, with 20, and Mexico with 19, followed by Cuba and Guatemala, both with 18.
The Cubans accumulated two silver and three bronze medals in the first two days of the competition, which will continue until the next day 27. (BSH)
