Mayabeque, Cuba: Mayabeque’s fighter Osvel David Caballero will be one of the protagonists of the Cuban Boxing Challengers Match, which will take place this Friday at the Rafael Fortún Sports Palace, in Camagüey.
The match that will start at 8 o’clock at night, will be attended by the best boxers who aspire to be in the Tokyo Olympiad. Caballero, a fighter from Batabanó, is the current first-level national monarch in the 57-kilogram division and a gold medalist at the Pan American Games in Lima last year.
His rival will be the exalted Lázaro Álvarez, first in the Cuban ranking and multi-medalist in the most important events in recent years, including the Olympic Games, World, Pan American and Central American Championships.
Both must provide a spectacular fight, the result of which could be taken into account, to determine which of them will make up the team that will seek the Olympic qualification in fight scheduled for May 2021.
Friday’s program will have a very high quality, as there will be the first and second figures of the eight divisions, except in the 81 and 91 kilograms.
It includes the combats between Yosvany Veitía and Damian Arce at 52 kilos, Andy Cruz and Jorge Moirán at 63, Roniel Iglesias and Kevin Brown at 69,
Yoenlis Hernández and Yanier Abreu of 75, Arlen López and Yojanler Domínguez of 81, in addition to those planned between Julio César la Cruz and Herich Ruiz of 91Kilos and Dainier Peró and Carlos Castillo of more than 91 kilos.
The head of the national technical group, Rolando Aceval, reported that in December there will be other confrontations in which all the members of the Cuban preselection will take part, in order to have a greater blank, because so far this year the epidemiological situation prevented participation in the traditional fair in Cuba or abroad.
