Since our revolutionary state determined that the development of agriculture was a factor of national food security, it meant that the life of the country was going on in an activity of this nature.

Although still insufficient, there are many actions carried out in this regard, at the territorial level to enhance agricultural performance, taking into account that urban, sub-urban and family agriculture is the main objective that can give real results if it is to link the population to take advantage of all fertile spaces to grow food.

It is a task that goes beyond the direction of agriculture itself and that is linked to the mass organizations of the municipalities, such as the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) and the Cuban Women Federation(FMC), which are doomed to promote the sowing of agricultural products, say meats and vegetables in patios and small plots, in the achievement of essential crops in human nutrition.

Progress in this sense is not enough, it is necessary to reinforce this important activity, that each family, each member of the community, from their own environment, can contribute significantly to family well-being, since they contribute to the country’s food security.

Madruga, a territory of large agricultural extensions, is committed to developing urban, suburban and family agriculture as a safe way to face the difficult economic situation imposed on us by the North American blockade and the current international context.
