Women in Mayabeque will plant trees in greeting to National Rebellion Day.

Mayabeque, Cuba: On the occasion of celebrating the National Rebellion Day on July 26, the members of the Cuban Women Federation (FMC by its Spanish initials) of San José de Las Lajas together with the Mayabeque Forestry Company will plant species of bougainvillea trees in the Marti’s Forest of the provincial capital.

The Secretary General of the FMC in that territory, Ana Rosa González Alfonso, reported that this plant, native of South America, was chosen because it was the favorite of the heroine Vilma Espín and given its strength, color and majesty.

Within the 3.6 hectares of the protected area dedicated to the National Apostle José Martí, bougainvillea of dissimilar colors will be planted to contribute to the beautification of the place and the flowering, essential for feeding bees and insects.

González Alfonso also called for the delegations and blocks to be adorned with Cuban flags, photos of heroes, slogans and initiatives to support the revolutionary process just hours after the 68th anniversary of the historic date was commemorated.
