Mayabeque workers with relevant experience in the sugar sector are distinguished.

Mayabeque, Cuba: Men uninterruptedly devoted body and soul for 50 or more years to the planting and cutting of sugarcane, machinery or equipment operators, as well as to the work directly related to the production of sugar in Mayabeque, received today the Seal of the fiftieth anniversary of the sugar sector.

One of the winners was the Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Emerio Travieso, who recalled the nationalization of the sugar industry and its passing to the workers.

Another of the honorees was Tomas Alberto Casadevalle Pérez who recalled his incorporation to the sector in 1970 and his participation in the harvest every year despite having retired for 13 years.

On this day they awarded the Jesús Suárez Gayol Distinction and the Jesús Menéndez Medal to workers with 20 and 25 years of permanent work in the sugar union.

The President of the Association of Forest Agricultural Technicians, Heriberto Alfonso, is one of those honored. He also reported his satisfaction at receiving such a distinction.

The tribute was held at the Derivados Base Business Unit in the municipality of Quivican, in the context of the Labor Day of this union, a date that recalls the nationalization by the Revolutionary Government of 382 large companies, of which 105 centrals, some owned North American.

On this day, they recognized the Romérico Cordero cooperative and the Multinutricionales Blocks plant, both entities with outstanding economic results.

The sugar workers ratified their commitment and total support to the Cuban Revolution, upholding the dignity, resistance and unity that characterize the union in times threatened by the imperialist enemy.
