Mayabeque, Cuba: The Luis Li Trigent polyclinic and the Family doctor’s and nurse’s offices in the northern area of Güines, 22,619 medical consultations were carried out in January of this year, 11,137 more than in the same stage of the 2021.
The head of the Department of Statistics of the medical institution, María Julia Fernández, reports that the most demanded health services were the clinical laboratory exams, with more than 16,000 investigations carried out to more than 2,560 patients.
They also show high numbers of patients treated by ultrasound services with 504, physical medicine and rehabilitation with 228, psychiatry with 191 and dermatology with 142.
In addition to the services mentioned above, the North Güines polyclinic assists the population with outpatient consultations for endocrinology, medical oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology, otolaryngology, orthopedics and traumatology, care for pregnant women, and infertility and family planning consultations, among others.
The family doctor performs consultations in nursing homes, in psychopedagogical medical centers, care for postpartum women and pediatrics.
The center is one of the anticovid vaccination centers authorized in the territory and is currently developing final intensive actions to administer the booster dose with the objective of improving the population’s immune response to the circulation of the new omicron variant.
The Luis Li Trigent polyclinic provides primary medical assistance services aimed at the promotion, preservation, healing and rehabilitation of patients, families and the community in the health area and develops undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research on community problems.
