Mayabeque, Cuba: The day of the Cuban press began in Mayabeque with a tribute to who was, until the moment of his death, President of the Union of Cuban Journalists in the province, Andy Duardo Martín.

The tribute was presided over by the top leader of UPEC in the territory, Elvis Gil Domínguez, and the president of the José Martí Cultural Society in the demarcation, Mercedes Guerra García, who, on behalf of the organization, delivered post mortem the Patria Newspaper Award to Andy Duardo for his connection and contributions in different investigations related to the life and work of the Apostle.

Next, the members of the UPEC Base delegations of Radio Mayabeque and the Güines TV tele-center, together with family and friends of Duardo Martín, laid a floral offering in the Güines necropolis, the place where the remains of the renowned journalist from the provincial station rest. .

In his years of work, Andy received the Juan Gualberto Gómez National Journalism Award, Recognition of Merit for Journalistic Excellence, the Distinction of Teacher of Radio Broadcasters, National Vanguard of the Union of Culture for 15 consecutive years, and the Medal of Labor Achievement, several international awards from the Caribbean Broadcasting Union, among other merits.
