Plataformas digitales abren posibilidades al mercado laboral.

Geneva: Digital platforms open up new possibilities for women, people with disabilities, youth and those left out of conventional labor markets, the International Labor Organization (ILO) said today.

In its most recent report, World Employment and Social Outlook 2021, the United Nations agency states that these technologies have multiplied by five in the last decade.

Such growth, points out the ILO document, highlights the need for an international dialogue on policies and regulatory cooperation, which allows a more coherent action in favor of decent work opportunities and the promotion of the growth of sustainable companies.

The report refers to two types of digital platforms in labor matters: web platforms, in which employees carry out their tasks online and remotely, and location-based ones, in which people, such as taxi drivers or delivery men, execute their occupation in a given geographical area.
Its conclusions are based on surveys and interviews carried out with about 12 thousand workers and representatives of 85 entities from different sectors and parts of the world.

It also states that the problems for digital platform workers are related to working conditions, regularity of work and income, and the impossibility of enjoying the rights to social protection, freedom of association and collective bargaining.
