Mayabeque, Cuba: The Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, praised the farmers of Mayabeque for standing out in the use of the soil during the cold agricultural season.

“The territory advances in the increase of its cultivable areas, but it must work more in the contracting between producers and clients”, the deputy president specified.

Valdés Mesa transmitted the recognition in exchange with directors of the agricultural sector of the province and others from the political, governmental and administrative spheres of the municipalities of San José de las Lajas and Güines.

The cold season in Mayabeque shows nearly 19,000 hectares planted with root vegetables, grains, vegetables, condiments, and fruit trees out of a commitment of 18,000 as part of the national agri-food program.

“The contracting deserves a stable follow-up in order to promote direct marketing between the producer and clients without the intervention of intermediaries in order to lower the prices of the crops,” the leader revealed.

The meeting was also attended by the member of the Central Committee of the Party and first secretary in the province, Yanina de la Nuez Aclich, and the provincial governor, Tamara Valido Benítez.
