Producciones de Refractarios Habana.

Mayabeque, Cuba: Promoting new opportunities in the foreign and export markets is a priority at the Refractarios Habana Company, located in this province.

72 percent of the raw material used by the workers to produce in this factory is imported,  hence the need to replace assortments such as chamota, with others that maintain the good quality of the final result at a lower cost than the current one.

The president of the Bussiness Group of the Sidero Mechanic Industry, (GESIME), engineer Reinaldo Luis González, specifies: “the main client is AZCUBA, it can work for nickel, for the cement, energy and mining industries, regardless of the steel mill, one of the main conditions that we set ourselves, to satisfy the production of steel ”.

At another point in his speech, the manager stated: “when the investment ends, it can diversify and supply one hundred percent of the current demand of the economy, the investment will allow it to diversify assortments and increase import substitution values”.

With this, innovation is promoted in the processes to replace imports and obtain competitive products in the international market.

Gesime’s president, Engineer Reinaldo Luis González, explains: “we are working with the Chamber of Commerce, with CARICARTE. The largest amount of refractory used today is brought from China, and if we manage to reduce the percentage of imports, the chamota has to work a lot”.

The investment process in Refractarios Habana, contributes to the improvement of an industry that works to consolidate and modernize technology according to GESIME’s work profile.

We have to take more advantage of the foreign exchange market, said González and added: “we have to access the Mariel Special Development Zone, you put firebricks in thr electronic commerce and people are going to buy it, how many restaurants need ovens and that brick helps? Is it viable? We already have 40 companies working in Mariel. You can approach foreign investment. How many paint factories are there in Mariel? What are ovens made of? , all the ovens have refractory, we have to be inserted in that”.
