Mayabeque, Cuba: The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil Fernández, appeared this Monday at the Round Table Program to report on the fundamental elements of the country’s Economic and Social Strategy and the steps for its implementation.
Gil Fernández said that the economy is in a situation of tension both in the world and in Cuba, we have worked with all the effects linked to the Covid-19 pandemic and under the reinforcement of the blockade of the United States government against Cuba.
Some one billion pesos were invested in the health sector for the prevention and control of the coronavirus. The country is sparing no effort to decisively meet these expenses.
With the arrival of the new normality, the country’s Economic and Social Strategy changed in its different stages, the Minister of Economy and Planning assured.
At another point in the radio and television Round Table, the Vice Minister, Alejandro Gil Fernández, referred to the production and distribution of food and acknowledged that there is a shortage of supplies that limits delivery to the population.
Exports are a genuine source of income that the country has and it is an essential element of the strategy, in fact non-state forms have made exports.
It is important that there is interest from producers to increase the added value of their products.
