Today the pandemic is dominating the entire country. Many are the lives that the terrible disease is taking. The images of pediatric patients afflicted by Covid-19 provoked pain in all of us.
I remember a few days ago on a tour of the Batabanó Grandparents’ House, the social worker who attends the health institution commented that she has sometimes found grandparents on the street.
Since January 14, this vulnerable group, as instructed by the Municipal Defense Council, receives food and medicine by messenger service so that they stay at home and thus take care of their health and well-being.
I think that the violation of this and other protocols in the face of the pandemic is the main cause of this outbreak and someone in my path said: “Could it be that we have lost our fear of the disease?”
I really don’t think so. What I do believe is that in many of the cases we have been irresponsible and undisciplined because the kisses, hugs, handshakes, parties, the incorrect use of the mask face, children and the elderly unnecessarily in the streets, people selling cookies and also selling pandemic.
In testimonies of sick and recovered patients from the new Coronavirus, we have shared the difficulty of the disease, of the treatment, of being in health centers far from the family and sometimes between life and death.
Let’s work hard as Dr. Duran advises. Let us denounce the wrong done and put a stop to it. Let’s disinfect the streets, homes, workplaces, let’s use the means of protection correctly even at home. Let’s keep our distance and greet each other with our eyes and our hearts.
