This is how the 23-year-old girl speaks, the youngest among the clinical laboratory technicians at the Noelio Capote Comprehensive Teaching Polyclinic, in Jaruco, in Mayabeque.
Although she does not completely renounce to magic or divine, she does refuse to sit on the pumpkin and wait for the fairy godmother to turn it into a float, she rather prefers to take care of certain things in person, such as performing the rapid antigens tests so they play their role in the war against coronavirus.
She knows that the question is to anticipate the serious forms of the disease, go after its trail and remove the mask for which it is necessary, more than looking at the sky, to use her skills and dedicate herself to the work of the laboratory.
The small Red Zone of it is reduced to a few square meters and was recently enabled in the Polyclinic of Jaruco to apply, exclusively, that type of diagnostician.
The task of detecting the proteins that envelop the SARS-CoV-2 virus in a simple sample is new to her and her colleagues, but everyone understands the scope of good practice with absolute clarity, she says.
The laboratory, her house and the school: that is the circle that she inhabits and goes through day after day. Becoming a graduate is her most ambitious goal and it is also a promise to the father who is gone, but it is still the wind that inflates her sail.
This young lady from Jaruco, who promises in the world of the clinical laboratory, hates defeat, selfishness and false appearances.
She still hasn’t discovered her full potential and at times she doubts her charms, her importance, and the many rewards that will sweeten her path.
Her name is Yeileni Barceló Delgado and she had to put on her sanitary flag on a real battlefield, however, she has good instincts and an iron will to kill the disease of fear.
There, at the bottom of her eyes, there is a star without her even suspecting it. In that dormant glow she managed to see her become an insatiable, tireless Clinical Laboratory Graduate ……, just as she imagines it.
And it will be so, because she was born with an ancient and strange soul and because she is, above all things, tremendously stubborn. So, she will never leave her projects to chance or spells. Yeileni wants a forest and will take care of enriching it herself.
