Mayabeque, Cuba: In the situation that the country is experiencing due to the impact of Covid-19, producing food is an urgent task for the farmers of Madruga.

The individual producers of the municipality, state agricultural entities and peasants linked to this task on arable land, promote self-sufficiency and food sovereignty.

For this reason, alternatives are being sought to make up for the lack of inputs and equipment for land clearing and thus guarantee quality crops, said the Directorate of Agriculture in the town.

Until the month of November, more than 600 tons of grains, viands and vegetables were harvested in the territory, while the work of supervision of the productive forms continues and they ensure a strengthening of food sustainability to substitute imports.

To the agricultural activities of the demarcation are added the productive works summoned by the political and mass organizations with the purpose of encouraging agriculture.
