Mayabeque, Cuba: Batabanó Agricultural Company is ready to start the planting of potatoes, corresponding to the current cold season.
The director of the entity, Michel Pérez, declared that this year they will plant 369 hectares of the tuber in the territory and will guarantee all the resources for the healthy development of the crop.
This activity will begin with the Basic Unit for Cooperative Production (UBPC) 13 de marzo, in the next few days if weather conditions allow it, the manager added.
The rains reported in the locality are responsible for the delay in planting the potato and the objective of the producers is for the seed to grow in a healthy way.
Once again, the acquisition of inputs and fertilizers from the country is difficult, which this year causes the reduction of planting plans for the tuber in more than 130 hectares.
