Mayabeque, Cuba: The accident rate increased considerably in Madruga, with 18 calamities reported so far this year, as a consequence five people lost their lives and another 12 were injured.
These negative figures mark a setback in the results of the territory, in relation to the accidents that had decreased in a sustainable way between 2015 and 2019.
The fundamental causes that led to these unfortunate events in the town were speeding, drinking alcoholic beverages and not respecting the right of way.
To counteract these negligent behaviors, measures are adopted in the municipality, among them: the promotion program in terms of driver education, controls and imposition of fines on offenders and other more severe sanctions such as the withdrawal of the vehicle from circulation and the driving license.
Accidents cause pain, also physical and psychological damage to relatives and victims, as well as losses in the economic and social order. Betting on a safe road depends on the discipline and responsibility of drivers and pedestrians.
