Mayabeque, Cuba: The whistle to start the sugar harvest in Madruga will be heard in the early hours of this Friday morning, December 4, at the Boris Luis Santa Coloma Base Business Unit (UEB).
After long days of preparation and synchronization of the industrial machinery, the conditions are set for the beginning of the milling and thus contribute to the fulfillment of the production plan, set at more than 30 thousand tons of sugar.
The cuts began early on Thursday, involving six cooperative production units and some 150 manual cutters, a significant moment if we take into account the resource deficit, derived from the difficult economic situation facing the country.
The effort of the sugar workers of Madruga, allows having the rail and road transport, necessary in the transfer of the raw material to the Boris Luis Santa Coloma tandem.
The 2020-2021 sugar harvest will begin shortly in the municipality with the premise of guaranteeing the flow of cane to the mill, achieving quality harvests and making the most of the raw material in the fields.
